Dear Members, Advisors, Family, and Friends of NJ DeMolay,
As I’m sure you are aware, the COVID-19 pandemic is affecting many schools, businesses and organizations, and your New Jersey DeMolay Adult Leadership Team has been monitoring developments closely over the last several days. Our primary concern is the health and safety of our members and adult volunteers, and we do not ever want to take any actions that put them in risk.
Regrettably, based upon the developing situation and current recommendations from the CDC and other federal and NJ state government organizations, I am directing the suspension of all DeMolay activities in the jurisdiction of New Jersey, effective immediately and until further notice.
This suspension includes the cancellation of two major events on our calendar in the coming days, the New Jersey Legion of Honor Rededication Dinner scheduled for Sunday, March 15, and Grand Master’s Class scheduled for Saturday, March 21.
I did not come to this decision lightly, and I thank the NJ DeMolay Adult Leadership Team for their thoughtful consideration and input in this difficult time. We believe these measures are necessary and are taken out of an abundance of caution to safeguard the well-being of our youth, families, volunteers, and visitors.
Additionally, I know there are chapters that planned to bring candidates to the Grand Master’s Class who have not been obligated via the short-form ceremony. If this applies to your chapter and you would like to obligate those candidates, I ask the Chapter Advisor or Chairperson to contact me directly. Together we will determine how best to proceed.
Thank you for your cooperation.
The NJ DeMolay Adult Leadership Team will continue to monitor the situation and communicate with you as often as necessary once we have further updates.
Fraternally,
Paul E. Mossberg
Executive Officer
New Jersey DeMolay
